Latest Lot Pics

We were out in DHS walking the lot with and discussing house plans, orientations, etc. We stayed in a nice house there - not modern, but well built - that gave us some inspiration.

House prices out there are now a fraction of what it would cost to build. So we're facing a dilemma. Still, the lot is nice so we like discussing where the bedroom would go, the spa, etc.

Closed On the Land!

Today we closed on the lot for building our modern desert dream home. This is a lot in Desert Hot Springs - about 20 minutes north of Palm Springs. It overlooks the valley towards Palm Springs and the San Jacinto mountain range.

Looking north from the lot, you can see up into the hills beneath Joshua Tree National Park.

The lot has a nice hill towards the west that blocks the worst of the winds. The hill also gives us some great topological features to play with; we can notch out our pad, or landscape, or maybe create an elevated spa.

But the view is really what sold us on this lot. We first saw the lot back in 2005; at the time, it was too expensive. Now prices came down enough for us to make the move. We're planning to start drafting our ideas for a home and move out there within the next two or three years.
